In December 2002, a journalist named Mikael Blomkvist was sentenced to three-months jail following a libel case against billionaire industrialist Hans-Erik Wennerström for an exposé written on his corporation.
Lisbeth Salander is a young hacker with Milton Security. Ruled legally incompetent as a child, she was put under the care of guardians. The first died of stroke, the second sexually abused her.
Both were put on trial by a wealthy patriach, Henrik Vanger, the retired CEO of the Vanger Corporation to investigate the disappearance of his niece, Harriet. As they work together on the task, Blomkvist and Salander become entangled in a web of lies, deceit, sexual scandals and corruption beyond anything they have ever imagined.
