Christmas is just around the corner, and what better way to kick-start it than revisiting our homegrown jewellery designer and silversmith, Carolyn Kan, the founder and designer behind Carrie K. Seeing how Christmas is the season of giving, Carolyn kindly offered the Fever Avenue team some time for a short chat and a closer look at her festive collection. We also took the liberty of asking her some Christmas-themed questions!

2. Would you prefer spending Christmas at home or abroad? Why?
Definitely at home, as it’s my favourite time of the year, and I usually spend it cooking. It’s kind of like a cooking test, where you are considered one of my favourite people if I want to cook for you, almost like the “inner circle”.
3. Favourite Christmas movie?
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, because it gives me the feeling of magic, which is very much like Christmas. I always watch Harry Potter when I want to get warm and fuzzy. There’s this particular scene where the food comes alive – that’s exactly how I want my Christmas table to be.
4. Favourite Christmas carol cover?
The Winter Song by Sarah McLachlan. It’s so melancholy and is perfect for a white Christmas.
5. One Christmas goodie you can eat forever and never get bored:
Mom’s homemade mince pies! We also bake roughly 150 mince pies as gifts and is the perfect opportunity to spend quality time together.
6. Dining in or out? Favourite restaurant for a Christmas meal?
Definitely dining in! On a side note, Le Bistro at the Indoor Stadium is definitely a great place for a Christmas meal.
7. Where’s the party at for you this Christmas?
A long lunch that will spread into dinner with family, friends and extended family members.
8. What’s your Christmas party outfit?
Buffet outfit – To feast all day and not have to suck the tummy in.
9. Getting drunk on Christmas Eve or Christmas – Win or Sin?
Christmas Eve – Sin, as there’s church the following day [Laughs]. As Christmas day is a full day affair, everybody will be in a constant state of high/happiness.
10. If you could re-fashion Santa’s outfit, how will you do it?
[Laughs] I would not touch Santa’s outfit, he is perfect!
11. What’s going under the Christmas tree this year?
Doggy bling, which are jewelled collars for dogs, they’re fun, unique and cheeky.

It’s actually a quote from somewhere: “Sing like no one is listening, dance like no one is watching and live every second like it’s your first”.
