2012 is indeed the year to watch out for when it comes to concerts. The latest to join the line-up for the immense number of concerts this year is Grammy-award-winning band Evanescence will be playing at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on February 27; brought to you by the folks at Lushington Entertainments. On to their first Asian tour, die-hard rock fans here would be glad to know that Singapore is among the few Asian stops that the band will be making, joining countries such as Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia, making it the fourth show in this region.
Best known for hits like “Bring Me To Life” and “My Immortal”, the band will be here in support of their third, self-titled studio album, released last October. The album
sold 127,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart. Released after five long years, fans of Evanescence had been kept waiting for far too long and as a result, high expectations befalled this album. Luckily, the band delivered with their first single ‘What You Want’ which is one of the most appealing tracks on the album.
With the video premiere of their latest single ‘My Heart is Broken’, it serves as the second official single from their album. In the Dean Karr-directed video, Amy Lee uses her inspiration of horror film Paperhouse for the concept. “It’s about a young girl who creates vivid dream worlds to escape the harsh reality of everyday life only to eventually realize she’s stuck in those dreams,” Amy told MTV. “Inspiration that certainly resonates with the song’s lyrics, which are very much about being trapped in a dark, desolate place and trying to free one’s self despite mounting evidence to the contrary.”
The incredible visual imagery of the music video only can whet our appetite till Evanescence hits our shores late next month. We can definitely expect this single to be played live and it spells nothing but incredible to hear Amy Lee’s operatic vocals throughout the stadium. This concert promises to be one of the highlights of every rock fan this year!
